About
Nick Bruns, OD, FAAO
Nick Bruns, OD, is the founder and host of Peer-to-Peer Academy. In the ophthalmic space, it might be odd to hear him referred to as “Nick” instead of “Dr. Bruns.” But at Peer-to-Peer Academy, that’s the goal. He’s drawing back the curtain to have real-world conversations with his fellow experts in surgical eye care that you won’t hear on the podium or at the clinic.
Nick practices in Milwaukee, WI with a focus on refractive / cataract surgery and ocular disease. He graduated with honors from Central Michigan University prior to completing his graduate training at the Michigan College of Optometry.
In January 2020, Nick joined John Vukich, MD, in Milwaukee to help open Summit Eye Care. With a focus on the latest innovations in surgical and medical eye care, Summit Eye has established itself as a leading practice in cataract/refractive surgical technologies in the Midwest. As Senior Optometrist and Director of Practice Development, he stays at the forefront of cutting edge technology and growth strategies.
Nick is also adjunct faculty at the Michigan College of Optometry and consults for many industry partners. He has written several articles, lectured at national meetings, and has been heavily involved in clinical trials.
In his spare time, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife Elyse (who is also an OD), two children, Emmett and Carmen, and yellow lab, Oakley. His hobbies include being an avid sports fan (go Lions!), spending time outdoors, downhill skiing, and golfing.
