Dr. Brian Szabo is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgery at Newsom Eye in Tampa. He earned his DO from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at HCA Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. The inaugural recipient of the William J. Lahners, MD, Fellowship at Newsom Eye, he has participated in FDA research and presented on advanced lens technologies at ASCRS. In 2022, he became the first surgeon in Florida to implant the Clearvision lens.
Eric Fazio, OD

Dr. Eric Fazio is the Medical Director of Optometry at Newsom Eye and director of its accredited one-year residency program in partnership with Salus University, one of only a few programs of its kind in the country. With more than 25 years in practice and over 50,000 surgical cases co-managed, he brings a depth of experience that spans comprehensive eye care, specialty dry eye, glaucoma, and advanced contact lens fitting. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo and completed a residency focused on glaucoma and ocular disease at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has served as a sub-investigator in clinical trials for both the Light Adjustable Lens and segmented bifocal IOL technology.
